We have followed the story of Amina Arraf for a few days wondering what will happen to her after she was kidnapped in a country where homosexuality is still illegal and where people try to change the government when this one kill them.
Then interrogations started about the true identity of Amina because nobody never met her and then it was discovered the pictures representing her did not belong to her at all.
So now we know Amina Arraf does not exist, this person is not Syrian, does not live in Damascus, it is not even a lesbian, worse it is a man!
Tom MacMaster, Georgia, had fun during 5 years writing his blog “A Gay Girl in Damascus” on which he used the identity of a lesbian and syrian woman.
The Washington Post reports on Sunday, MacMaster apologized on the blog. "While the narrative voice may have been fictional, the facts on thıs blog are true and not mısleading as to the situation on the ground," he wrote. "I do not believe that I have harmed anyone — I feel that I have created an important voice for issues that I feel strongly about."
What do think?
