Finally, it happened! The two same-gender parents can appear on the birth certificate of their child.
Valeria Tanco and Sophy Jesty had married in New York but, having moved into Tennessee, their marriage was found not identified. As a result, they launched out into a battle against Tennessee's non-recognition of the out-of-state same-sex unions and in March, a federal judge ordered to recognize their marriage. A few days later, Emilia was born and her two moms were recognized.
But the State appealed the decision and as reports Reuters, it is possible a ruling against the couple could void Emilia's birth certificate and require that it be reissued with only Tanco listed.
