Vermont Has Blocked Access To "Gay Conversion" Therapies To Minors

Written by

Peter Shumlin

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin signed into law the bill to restrict the access to "gay conversion" therapies to anyone under 18 years of age.

"The practice is not only archaic, but it's wrong," Shumlin said.

This law will take effect from July 1 and will prohibit all  licensed psychologists, medical health counselor and physician to practice a "conversion" therapy  with a child or a teenager.

Vermont joins Oregon, New Jersey, California and Illinois, which have already banned the access to "reparative" therapy to minors.

Note that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his intention to forbid insurance companies from covering such therapies.
