Victory: Pennsylvania Marriage Equality Ban Is Repealed!

Written by

And still a state which overturns a marriage equality ban! Federal judge John E. Jones indeed repealed the equal marriage ban in Pennsylvania!

This ban was challenged by 11 same-sex couples, a widow and two teenagers having gay parents.

In his ruling, judge Jones wrote: "We are a better people than what these laws represent, and it is time to discard them into the ash heap of history."

Jones also indicated that he refused any attempt at staying his decision while waiting for an appeal allowing the same-sex couples to immediately marry.

Also the marriages performed out of the state will be identified.

It is not known yet if, as usual, the decision will be appealed or if Pennsylvania becomes the 19th state to legalize marriage equality.
