What are the best and worst US states for LGBT families?

Written by

best worst states lgbt families

Move.org, a resource for all things moving, revealed the ranking of the 50 US states from best to worst for LGBT families.

The website highlights the best and worst places according to different criteria such as:

  • non-discrimination laws
  • adoption laws
  • "conversion therapies" bans for minors
  • the number of LGBTQ centers available
  • LGBT companies or companies with policies for LGBT employees

So in your opinion what are the three best American states?

  • 1- Unsurprisingly, California is number one and especially Long Beach in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, and San Diego.
  • 2- Illinois

Move.org explains that Illinois offers similar laws than in California with a similar proportion of same-sex couples raising their children in the state (16.6%).

  • 3- Hawaii, which often brings victories for the LGBT community.

Finally, the worst American states are Virginia, Wisconsin and especially West Virginia. The latter state provides no protection for LGBTQ people.
