Monday, the house of Wyoming has adopted a legislation which stop the recognition of gay marriages and civil unions celebrated in other states.

This legislation, called House Bill 74, passed with 32-27 votes and will be studied by the senate.

State Rep. Owen Petersen, R-Mountain View, the bill's sponsor, said the legislation is needed to resolve a conflict in Wyoming law, which defines marriage as a contract "between a male and a female person" but also recognizes any valid marriage performed outside the state report Star-Tribune.
